Editorial Policy

1. Aim and Scope

Journal of Applied Mathematical and Statistical Computing is an open-access international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to the dissemination of high-quality, original research in applied mathematics, statistical science, and computational methodologies. The journal aims to advance the development of rigorous theoretical frameworks, innovative methodologies, and reproducible computational approaches, addressing complex problems across scientific, engineering, and technological disciplines. The journal maintains a balanced focus on mathematical analysis and statistical theory, while promoting their integration with modern computational techniques and data-driven methodologies. It seeks to provide a platform for contributions that demonstrate scientific originality, methodological rigor, and clear relevance to contemporary research challenges.

2. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based on the originality, scholarly merit, methodological rigour, relevance, clarity, and contribution of a manuscript to the field. Decisions shall not be influenced by authors’ institutional affiliations, nationality, gender, personal characteristics, academic seniority, or political, commercial, or financial interests. The Editor-in-Chief and designated editors shall exercise independent academic judgement in accordance with the journal’s stated policies. Commercial considerations, sponsorship, advertising, and publication fees, where applicable, shall not determine editorial decisions.

3. Manuscript Submission and Initial Assessment

All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s designated submission system or official submission channel. Upon receipt, the editorial team will conduct an initial assessment to determine whether the manuscript falls within the journal’s scope and meets its basic requirements relating to originality, quality, completeness, ethical compliance, and presentation. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s scope or minimum standards may be rejected without external peer review. The journal may use appropriate similarity-detection tools to identify potential plagiarism, text recycling, or other forms of inappropriate overlap.

4. Peer-Review Process

Manuscripts considered suitable for further evaluation will undergo peer review. The journal will follow a double-blind peer-review model, as specified on its website. In a double-blind process, the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other. Reviewers will assess manuscripts for originality, methodological soundness, validity of analysis, relevance, ethical compliance, quality of presentation, and contribution to existing knowledge. Reviewers may recommend acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection. The final decision rests with the responsible editor. The journal seeks independent and qualified reviewers and will take reasonable steps to avoid conflicts of interest in reviewer selection. Peer-review timelines may vary depending on manuscript complexity and reviewer availability.

5. Editorial Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief or an authorised editor will make the final editorial decision after considering reviewers’ comments, the manuscript’s scholarly merit, and the journal’s publication standards. Reviewers provide recommendations; their recommendations are not automatically binding. Where necessary, the editor may seek additional reviews or clarification from authors before reaching a decision. Decisions will be communicated to the corresponding author, along with relevant reviewer feedback where appropriate.

6. Revisions and Resubmissions

Authors invited to revise a manuscript should submit a revised version and a point-by-point response addressing the editorial and reviewer comments. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers or assessed by the editor, depending on the nature of the revisions. A revised submission does not guarantee acceptance. Manuscripts may be rejected if substantial concerns remain unresolved.

7. Editorial Conflicts of Interest

Editors and editorial board members must disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest relating to a manuscript. An editor with a relevant conflict must not participate in the evaluation or decision-making process for that manuscript. An independent editor will be appointed where necessary. Manuscripts submitted by the Editor-in-Chief, editors, editorial board members, or other individuals with editorial authority will be subject to an independent review process in which the submitting individual has no role in reviewer selection, confidential deliberations, or the final decision.

8. Confidentiality

Manuscripts received by the journal shall be treated as confidential documents. Editors, reviewers, and editorial staff must not disclose manuscript content, author identities where protected by the review model, reviewer identities where confidential, or editorial deliberations to unauthorised individuals. Manuscript information must not be used for personal, professional, or commercial advantage. Editors and reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts to third-party artificial intelligence systems or other services unless confidentiality is adequately protected and the journal’s policy and applicable permissions allow such use.

9. Appeals and Complaints

Authors may appeal an editorial decision by submitting a reasoned written explanation identifying a material factual error, procedural irregularity, or significant misunderstanding that may have affected the decision. Appeals will be considered by an editor who was not directly responsible for the original decision, where practicable. Complaints concerning editorial conduct, peer review, publication procedures, or alleged misconduct may be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief or publisher through the contact details provided on the journal website. Complaints involving the Editor-in-Chief will be referred to an appropriate independent authority. The journal will assess complaints fairly, confidentially, and within a reasonable period.

10. Corrections, Retractions, and Post-Publication Review

The journal recognises its responsibility to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. Where significant errors, research misconduct, ethical concerns, or other issues arise after publication, the journal will investigate the matter and take proportionate action. Depending on the circumstances, this may include publishing a correction, an expression of concern, a retraction, or another appropriate editorial notice. Published articles will not be removed from the scholarly record except where removal is legally or otherwise exceptionally necessary.

11. Policy Review

The journal may periodically review and update this policy to reflect developments in scholarly publishing, research integrity, and applicable standards. Any substantive changes will be published on the journal website.
